Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung Galaxy S5

The new Samsung Galaxy S5 in the test proves his class with a revised Android, fresh TouchWiz UI, many exclusive features and excellent hardware.

The overall good battery disappointed, however, in telephone, and the unspectacular design can not compete with the noble competition.

Samsung Galaxy S5

Samsung Galaxy S5 comes with new design element, but remains faithful to the old material. The result is a smartphone with a plastic back leather look, the glossy front is similar to the Samsung Galaxy S2.

According to Samsung, it is the material on the back not to artificial leather, but “Quality polycarbonate”. The Samsung galaxy S5 acts externally completely unspectacular and boring, especially in black. In the hand it feels good and relatively handy, but is heavier and larger than its predecessor Samsung Galaxy S4.

  • The smartphone is processed excellent, the competitors of Apple and HTC act but much higher quality.

#1 Design

The USB port on the enclosure supports USB 3.0, but only a USB 2.0 cable is included. The USB port concealed a small flap, because the Samsung Galaxy S5 is protected to IP67 against water and dust.

The battery cover is still removable, among which MicroSIM and microSD slots hide. Ins S5 fit microSD cards with up to 128 GB memory.

Samsung brings officially only the 16 gigabyte version of Samsung Galaxy S5. So the users remain around 10 GB internal memory. Since practical App2SD function is pre-installed on the phone, but you can move apps to the microSD card in order to create the internal memory space.

#2 Display

The 5.1 inch generously sized display strong values obtained in the laboratory: With 404 cd / m², it is very bright for a AMOLED – and significantly brighter than the display of its predecessor S4. The contrast is 167:1 with a bit lower, but is still good.

The screen is also expected to be sharp. You can turn back the display brightness desired radically until only in very dark places something can be seen on the screen. The touch surface is directly responsive and feels pleasant.

#3 Camera

The 16 megapixel camera of Samsung Galaxy S5 impressed. You snaps very sharp and beautiful pictures and not just during daylight hours. Even in poor light conditions and even in the dim light.

The camera has no problems with contrasts, distant objects are sharp again, and triggers from afloat. With the Real HDR mode you will see before snapping on your display as the subject by HDR is changed.

The LED flash shines for our taste but a bit too bright camcorder shoots in a maximum of 4K resolution on the good front camera with adjustable Blur has 2 megapixels available.

#4 Battery

The powerful 2800 mAh battery surprised us during the tests twice. While talking with the maximum transmission power it brings the Samsung Galaxy S5 only to just under eight hours of runtime, which is just average and comparatively little.

#5 Fingerprint Scanner

The Samsung galaxy S5 has, similar to the iPhone 5S, a fingerprint scanner on the Home button. The scanner is used to unlock the smartphone and to pay via Paypal.

#6 Connectivity

If you want the web with the Samsung Galaxy S5, help the latest standards. WLAN ac, Cat4 LTE and HSPA + enable the fastest possible time surfing.

In addition, Bluetooth 4.0, NFC, an infrared transmitter and the previously mentioned USB 3.0 port are available.
